COVID-19 MANDATORY VACCINATION DIRECTIVE (PLEASE READ)

As an employer with a strong commitment to health and safety, the Town of Canmore will take every reasonable step to protect the health, safety, and welfare of its employees and others from the hazard of COVID-19. The Town has determined that the protection of its workplace must mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for all its employees as a further control in mitigating the hazard of COVID-19. This new directive and related procedures outline the requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless unable to receive vaccination due to an accepted medical reason. Therefore, all prospective candidates may be respectfully asked to:

  1. Disclose vaccination status during the hiring process (in a respectful and confidential manner
  2. Provide documentation to support vaccination status before a job offer   
  3. Participate in our rapid testing program and meet our vaccination deadlines for single-dose vaccine candidates

Core Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this is a temporary, project-based position that will be responsible for leading the creation of a multi-year work plan to address the needs identified in a recently completed Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) Assessment.

Work plan deliverables will include: 

  • Create a multi-year (3-5 years) work plan to implement recommendations 1, and 3-7 from the Town’s completed assessment.  
  • Develop meaningful and tangible metrics (both qualitative and quantitative) to measure the progress of action plans and the impact of the work that is implemented. 
  • Lead, advise and coordinate the REDI Steering Committee on short-term deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or designation in Project Management – preferred 
  • Diploma or degree in Human Services, Communications, or equivalent relevant education and experience to be knowledgeable and skilled working for the successful advancement of organizational, business, and service initiatives in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging – preferred 
  • Well-versed and experienced in anticipating diversity and inclusion needs in community and business – preferred 
  • Working knowledge and experience with federal and provincial legislation around equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, including the Alberta Human Rights Act – preferred 
  • Knowledgeable of municipal government services, organizational structure, and decision-making – preferred 

 

Abilities and Experience

  • Successful experience with group facilitation and project management – required
  • Excellent research and report-writing skills – required
  • Ability to welcome diverse perspectives and to adapt communication and behaviour to different audiences – required
  • Understanding of the experiences of diverse and marginalized groups and community members – required
  • Experience successfully networking and relationship-building with a variety of stakeholders – required
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs– required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both oral and written form – required
  • Organizational habits to understand, realistically plan for and meet deadlines, while adapting to changing demands and priorities – required
  • Experience in a municipal setting – preferred

 

Term position: The status of the Temp PT REDI Advisor position will be reviewed on May 15th, 2025. 

Salary & Benefits

  • Pay Range - $46.92 per hour - $49.52 per hour.
  • Flexible work schedule that accommodates a wide range of availability and lifestyle needs
  • Hybrid eligible position

 

Work Schedule: 20 hours per week – flexibility dependent on operational needs.
