Operating across diverse Point of Sale systems, inventory, and utilizing cutting-edge accounting software, this position provides a comprehensive perspective of the entire operation.

 

Reports to: Controller

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping & Analytics: Immerse yourself in full cycle accounting by actively booking and reviewing daily revenues, ensuring accuracy and completeness in financial records. Analyze and elucidate month-end costs and expenses for finance and operational leaders, providing valuable insights. Provide robust financial analysis to support operational and finance objectives, fostering strategic decision-making. Proactively follow up on discrepancies related to daily revenue, cash flow, and expenses, demonstrating a commitment to financial precision.
  • Month-End Stewardship: Prepare monthly financial statements within specified deadlines, showcasing meticulous attention to detail through the accurate preparation of journal entries. Regularly reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring financial accuracy and integrity.

Preparation of monthly Royalty payments, HST and NR4 tax remittances, ensuring up-to-date reporting requirements and adherence with contractual obligations & regulatory requirements.

  • Year-End Stewardship: Contribute to the year-end audit process, supporting the Balance Sheet reconciliation & review process, preparation of notes, and supporting documentation.
  • Internal Controls Champion: Understand and ensure compliance with internal controls, actively recommending improvements to existing policies and procedures.
  • Budgeting Support: Assist in preparation the annual budgets.
  • Collaborative Support: Extend support to other team members as required, promoting a collaborative work environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: University or College graduate with a major in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related equivalent work experience. Full cycle accounting experience is greatly valued and considered an asset.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, demonstrating advanced expertise in MS Excel.
  • Critical Attributes: Detail-oriented, analytical thinker, problem solver, and proactive in taking initiative.
  • Organizational Excellence: Exhibit excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proximity Matters: Ideally be located within a reasonable commutable distance.
