Who We Are:

Fresh Prep is a fast-growing Vancouver company that makes it easy to cook incredible meals in just 15-30 minutes. We do this by sourcing local ingredients for delicious recipes, which are then prepared in one of our two warehouses in East Vancouver and delivered to customers homes in reusable cooler bags. In 2018 and 2019, we were recognized by the Georgia Straight as Vancouver’s #1 meal kit and we are BCorp Certified!

About You

You are an experienced Ruby on Rails developer who is passionate and takes pride in his/her work. You are comfortable working on all aspects of web development – front-end (no design skills required) and back-end. You might not be familiar with every tool we use, but you like a challenge, you’re a fast learner and you enjoy picking up new technologies.

 What You’ll Be Doing:

We are looking for a talented developer to help us create scalable, maintainable code to facilitate the shipping of our click and cook solutions. We want to grow faster, deliver quicker, and adapt to new shifts in the market.
 

We are a small developer team looking for open and collaborative people who have the skills to help us deliver value to all of our internal and customer facing programs. We create tools used for all aspects of the entire digital experience for customers and staff, including sign up, food production, fulfillment and support. 
 

Successful candidates will also participate in planning, and engage in discussion of product roadmaps, new features and fixes. Developers are responsible for performing peer code reviews, participating in team retrospectives, and diagnosing, testing and reproducing bugs issues.

We are looking for a confident Full-stack developer, with particular expertise with Ruby on Rails, who will guide us through scaling and optimization of our current code base and building new sustainable features, apps and experiences.

What We Are Looking For:

• HTML, CSS, Javascript (ES6)

• Object oriented web programming like Ruby on Rails

• Using relational databases like Postgres

• Confident with the Unix shell

• Comfortable writing tests, in particular rspec

• Confidence when justifying decisions

• Empathy when listening to other opinions

Any experience with the following is considered a bonus

• Scrum and agile development

• Vue.js

• Redis

• Test automation and Selenium

• Database organization and optimization

• Docker and Kubernetes

• Continuous integration and Configuration management

• User Experience design and research
