The Mortgage Quality Control Analyst is responsible for reviewing the quality of residential mortgage files prior to funding. This includes reviewing documentation, rationale, accuracy, and completeness of information provided in support of a file. The review is supported by established policies and procedures.



  • Provide collaborative feedback regarding interpretation of guidelines, policies and procedures to the Underwriting and Fulfillment teams

  • Make recommendations to the Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives and Quality Control on Underwriting and Fulfillment best practices to improve internal processes and procedures 

  • Ensure each file complies with the underwriting standards and guidelines prior to funding

  • Perform a pre-funding review/audit of files and provide approval for funding or provide
    observations or findings to the Underwriters and/or Mortgage Fulfillment Officers

  • Provide support, from time to time, to the Real Estate Analyst in reviewing Appraisals

  • Ensure any findings have been corrected or addressed appropriately

  • Ensure turnaround times, service levels and priorities are met for the timely funding of files


Monitoring: Ability to manage the Quality Control work queue in a fast-paced, high-volume environment to ensure service levels are met and files fund on time

  • Coordinative: Identify trends and provide input into strategies and learning opportunities to improve file and credit quality

  • Auditing: Complete daily prefunding Quality Control reviews on mortgage files. Identify and assess credit risk issues specific to XMC Mortgage Corporation’s policies and guidelines

  • Prescribing: Advising the Underwriters and/or Mortgage Fulfillment Officers what deficiencies are present and what needs to be done to ensure files meet internal and regulatory requirements



  • Post secondary degree or diploma preferred in related area



  • 3+ years experience in residential lending and credit risk
  • Proven expertise in credit adjudication (Underwriting, Audit/Compliance)


  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Proven ability to foster relationships and the ability to negotiate effectively with intermediaries
  • Ability to understand financial statements and assess financial viability
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Self-driven, motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Carries out duties with integrity and takes responsibility for actions
  • Time management, highly organized
  • Analytical thinking and Attention to detail/accuracy


  • Some work beyond standard hours
