Job Summary:

The Enterprise Data Architect is accountable for the development
and execution of Business Intelligence (BI)/data management strategy and contribute
to the plan to support the overall corporate strategy. This position is
directly responsible for the management of all the core data infrastructure,
data warehouse and all related systems by implementing best practices. He/she
is also responsible to developing Data Governance framework to manage
enterprise data. The framework includes policies, standards and guidelines to
utilize data in a controlled manner. The Enterprise Data Architect provides
leadership to application support and data management team of IT professionals
to manage day to day operations by following organizational policies and
governance frameworks. He/she will be working closely and supporting the VP, IT
to devise a system/technology roadmap to align with the corporate objectives.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Design, direct and implement business intelligence solutions for the

  • Lead Data Management/BI projects during all the phases of the project
    life cycle, with emphasis on business requirements gathering, quality assurance
    and user acceptance phases.

  • Driving process efficiencies and business value by providing data-based
    solutions to internal stakeholders

  • Own relationship with the business report users to manage expectations

  • Be the voice of the business user to data/reporting management team
    accelerating the adoption of new BI projects across the organization.

  • Identify risks with solution and communicate with business users to
    proactively resolve or mitigate risks/delays to the BI projects.

  • Engage technical and non-technical business users in project
    communications, using appropriate language and terminology for the intended

  • Support critical stakeholder business units such as Residential Lending,
    AML/Compliance, Finance/Treasury with data solutions to meet the MCAN’s
    regulatory, compliance and governance policies and frameworks

  • Transform business requirements into BI solutions.

  • Analyze different sources of data and document technical specifications
    for analytics developers.

  • Support quality assurance and user acceptance tests.

  • Work with analytics developers to guide development, participate in code
    reviews, to ensure technical and functional integrity of BI projects.


Training and Governance

  • Schedule and perform BI training sessions with the key business users.

  • Monitor progress and usage of the BI reporting tools across the

  • Work with business users to establish proper governance for creation,
    publication and sharing of reports and dashboards.

  • Work with the VP, IT and BUs leads to design and implement the Data
    Governance across the organization.



  • Provide leadership and direction to the Application Support and Data
    Management team ensuring high level of engagement, motivation and innovation.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the capability of the BI practice
    such as: mentoring employees, promoting technical developments, and building

  • Act as a positive role model and provide architectural expertise,
    direction, and assistance to BI/analytics developers


Data Management Practices

  • Develop proficiency in the BI technologies, tools including but not
    limited to BI (Power BI, Tableau etc.), ETL (SSIS) and RDBMS (MS SQL, Azure SQL

  • Stay current in BI industry and business trend through attending
    networking events, individual learning and participation in BI webinar and

  • Identify and research relevant technologies, perform Proof of Concepts
    (POC), prototypes, reviewing and recommending technology trends.

  • Develop, implement and maintain best practices and standard for delivery
    of quality BI solutions.

  • Document business and technology roadmaps for the Data Management team.


The work experience, skills, education that you



  • Technology-related
    Engineering or Computer Science undergrad degree, at a minimum



  • Excellent written
    and verbal communication skills,

  • Proven
    interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to communicate
    information security and risk-related concepts to technical and nontechnical
    audiences at various hierarchical levels

  • Knowledge and
    understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements such as OSFI, OSC



  • 10+
         years of experience in BI projects including 5+ years as a Solutions
         Architect in BI/Analytics
  • Experience
         building reports through a web-based environment
  • Experience
         training uses in BI tools
  • 5+
         years of experience building Functional and Technical specifications for
         BI projects
  • Strong
         presentation skills, for all business user levels using technical and
         no-technical language
  • Microsoft
         SSIS, Visual Studio 2015 and above.
  • Thorough
         working knowledge of relational databases (MSSQL) and advanced SQL data
         extraction and manipulation techniques.
  • Strong
         knowledge of application testing phases and practices to align test data
         strategy to testing phases and tools
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure technologies.

  • Mastery
         of converting business and technical risks into actionable tactical tasks
  • Experience
         working with and managing policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
         related to data management
  • Strong
         knowledge of data privacy and  data
         protection concepts
