Job Summary:


The Cloud/Network Administrator is responsible for researching, designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining a mission critical cloud infrastructure for MCAN. He/she is also be providing 2nd and 3rd level technical support for all MCAN IT Network Infrastructure systems including internal and cloud-based systems. The Cloud/Network Administrator will be responsible for evaluating and recommending necessary changes in performance tuning and monitoring of the entire network and firewall infrastructure systems used by MCAN.

The Cloud/Network Administrator would participate in all aspects of system integrations, changes, with direct accountability for analysis, design, and implementation. Contributes to the overall quality of the application delivery by sharing subject matter expertise with business partners and other IT team members. 


Responsibility:

  • Provide second and third level technical support to MCAN network and server systems to internal and remote users. He/she will be acting as a point of escalation for Tier 1 support. All escalated support issues conducted over the phone, in person, via email, and through the remote-control program, must be accurate, timely and tracked properly through our ticketing system.

  • Communicate problems, risks, or issues with peers and manager in clear, concise, positive, friendly, and end-user understandable manner.

  • Monitoring the Service Desk ticketing systems and respond and resolving tickets in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for Network and Firewall maintenance to manage patch and firmware updates. 

  • Effectively manage corporate systems backup solutions

  • Follow and enforce IT policies and assist users of standards and methodologies.

  • Provides day-to-day operations and production support, including off-hours problem resolution of supported applications.

  • Update process documentation - ensure documentation of entire environment is current.

  • Complete IT Governance attestations and assist in designing and maintaining proactive reports for optimizing network devices for efficient, reliable, and scalable performance.

  • Stay up to date on industry trends and identifies emerging technologies to improve business processes and evaluate risks to the organization.

  • Establish and assist in reporting for IT systems uptime to meet SLA’s. As well report on the IT infrastructures performance and capacity i.e., network, bandwidth, IT Assets and Software Patch management

  • Ensure sufficient IT Governance & controls are in place in compliance with OSFI and other regulatory expectations.

  • Ensure compliance with Internal Audit team and appropriate management of findings.

  • Ensure compliance with Internal Audit team during the planning and execution of any audits and take appropriate actions to close findings.

  • Create and manage relationships with external client stakeholders, and vendors.

    Education:


         A BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Gather customer requirement and use this information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements

  • Strong communication skills that can translate between the business and IT resources

  • Must be able to visualize/create Network diagrams for proposed solutions

  • The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to
    determine acceptable solution

  • Experience with conducting root cause analysis on major incidents,
    coordinating and executing follow-up actions

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work within tight deadlines

 

Qualifications:

  • University Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer
    Networking, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • At least 5 years progressive experience in IT Networking and/or Server Infrastructure.

  • Expert hands on experience planning/designing, building, configuring, implementing, deploying and
    administering the following technologies:

  • CheckPoint Firewalls or Next Gen firewalls, Routers, Switches, VLAN, Inter-VLan, L3 routing, OSPF and Network Management System etc.

  • Expert knowledge of Identity and Access Management

  • Must have good understanding of Azure foundation and Network components like Express route, S2S VPN, Network Security Groups (NSG) and Application Security Groups (ASG).

  • Strong knowledge of Commvault backup solution in Azure environment

  • Hands on experience with Azure Infrastructure compute, storage, disaster recovery,  and monitoring

  • Working knowledge  of VMWare and VCenter

  • Working experience with Office 365 including configuration, and administration

  • Very good understanding of Cloud IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services
