SCOPE OF THE POSITION
 
Reporting to the Plant Manager, The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the planning, directing, and managing of the Maintenance Department required to sustain the safe and efficient operation of multiple production equipment and facilities while ensuring exceptional engineering and maintenance practices. As an expert, you will bring a deep technical mastery of the process and equipment. That expertise allows you to lead the planning, process development and implementation of Planned Maintenance Elements in a Continuous Improvement manufacturing environment. You will manage this through teams consisting of various technical and non-technical personnel, key support contractors and operations personnel.
 
THE MANDATE:

•    Plans and builds the capability of the team to execute themselves, build technical and maintenance skills of the mechanics and technicians working in the shifts, so that they can address the equipment downtimes themselves.
•    Be part of the Effective Maintenance Pillar, own all PM systems, work processes at the plant level, and lead some of the Capex projects.
•    Deliver and Support the SQCDME targets-Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale and Environment targets within/across the maintenance department.
•    Ensure Process stability, Host/ Participates in the Daily operations meetings
•    Owns the technology and process. Learn and be curious to understand the existing plant processes and equipment in detail.
•    Owns the CMMS, ensures work processes and agreed upon Key Performance Indicators for the maintenance departments are delivered; Monitor and audit completed work orders, work requests and backlogs; Develop, own and execute the annual, weekly and daily maintenance plans.
•    Partner with the Engineering, Asset, and Reliability team for system improvement and execution of special maintenance tasks; be responsible for Change Management on the line/s, localization of spares, and proper break-down analysis and action plan; R&M cost reduction for the line/s; Represents the department/line/s as the site technology owner
•    Responsible for the day-to-day schedules of the Maintenance Techs, contractors, and temps as required
•    Coordinate Maintenance tasks between Maintenance, Operations, and Contractors as required
•    Adhere to 5S requirements and all other applicable quality and safety requirements
•    Plans and provides for an adequate supply and ensures control over spare parts and maintenance supplies
•    Management of the Maintenance budget and other maintenance KPI’s
•    Participate in safety audits
•    Comply with BRC and CFIA standards
 
THE CANDIDATE:
 

•    Engineering Degree or Diploma in a related discipline (e.g. Mechanical or Electrical) required
•    A minimum of 4 years relevant management experience in processing/packaging operations required.
•    Knowledge of manufacturing principles and experience in analysis and development of methods, standards, systems, procedures, plant layout, and cost control in a high speed, automated production environment.
•    Demonstrated problem-solving and leadership skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
•    Ability to lead and participate in a multi-functional, team-based environment.
•    Must be able to work independently and cope with conflicting demands in short time periods
•    Able to managing Individual Development Plans for the team, coach team members on their performance management and encourage career development
•    Experience in a food processing and continuous improvement environment is preferred.
•    Knowledge of relevant regulations such as CFIA, GFTC, TSSA and ESA are required.
